BODYWORK/TRIM
This F100's ground-up restoration began with a solid body that was
stripped all the way to bare metal. Once that profile was carefully
pancaked and fully prepped, the entire getup was bathed in a smooth
coat of vivid PPG Hot Red 2-stage. And today, roughly 50 miles
later, this F100 rolls as one sizzling showstopper that provides
instant red carpet curb appeal!
Not surprisingly, this awesome Ford's first rate detailing
highlights excellent form. Up front, a smoothed grille hangs modern
headlights and clear parking lamps over a polished bumper. Behind
that grille, a shaved, forward-tilt hood snugs at a filled cowl,
which plants capped wipers in front of fresh glass. That glass,
finished with singled side windows and a big backlite, overlooks a
factory bed that features polished skid strips, Lexan display
panels and gorgeous Zebrawood planks. At the sides of that bed, a
flowing profile centers shaved doors and polished mirrors in front
of widened fenders. And at the back of the truck, a chainless
tailgate seats polished hardware between a folding tag, simple
taillights and a second polished bumper.
ENGINE/DRIVETRAIN
What good is incredible beauty without incredible performance? Tilt
the trick hood and you'll find 454 cubic inches of LS6 big block
that kicks off a full array of chrome with Ram Jet fuel injection!
Behind that beast, a beefy 700R4 4-speed twists torque to a
color-keyed Ford 9-inch that's finished with a posi-traction
differential and 4.11 gears. That first-rate drivetrain rolls on a
full Art Morrison chassis, which, plumbed for air ride, follows
chrome control arms with Strange coil-over-shocks. That modern
suspension is augmented with power rack-and-pinion steering.
Braking is equally class, with Hydroboost assist cinching polished
Wilwood calipers on four cross-drilled rotors. Coated Hooker
Competition headers dump spent gases in to coated, Mandrel-bent
pipes, which follow a 3-inch crossover with coated Borla mufflers
and polished stainless tips. And power meets the pavement through
polished Boyd Coddington wheels, which twist 255/55R18 Kumho Ecstas
in front of 305/50R20 Kumho Ecstas.
INTERIOR
Installed by JD Glassworks of Lubbock, Texas, this F100's custom
interior is an exercise in style and solitude. Front and center, a
body-matched dash hangs clean Dakota Digital telemetry over knobs
for Vintage Air climate control. Opposite that dash, low-profile
buckets wear a cool combination of cloth and vinyl surfacing.
Between those seats, a custom console frames JVC touchscreen audio.
And the driver stays connected to the road through a matte-finished
wheel, which laps a tilting Flaming River column.
