In 2006, Porsche revealed the new 997 Turbo at the Geneva Motor Show, featuring completely new styling, a relief to most, as well as increased power and performance. The 3.6L twin turbo charged engine was revised to produce 480bhp in comparison to 415bhp from the previous model. The 0 to 60mph time was whittled down to just 3.5 seconds which is far off from a Carrera GT. So, the performance was certainly there but what excited most was the change in the styling as the previous 996 was not very well received in the looks department. However, the new 997 definitely screamed Porsche with rounded headlamps, sloped back, and more concise rear tail lamps. Will the aesthetics now sorted and the already superb performance of the 996 enhanced to make the 997 a more pungent road car.
The example on offer is a 2007 Porsche Turbo, chassis number WPOAD29987S784870, a 26,461 mile, two owner example that has seen light use and maintained accordingly. According to the CARFAX report, this car was originally owned in Connecticut before being passed into the hands of the current owner in 2015 whom resides here in Pennsylvania. In addition, the report lists no accidents or discrepancies during the life of this example. This Porsche Turbo has been left in its stock specifications, still sporting its original, untainted slate grey metallic paint, and black leather interior.
Upon approach of this example, the slate grey metallic paint greets with a fantastic shine with plenty of depth. Given that this example has seen some road use, there are a few imperfections that have been incurred. The front clear bra has two very minute chips from where debris made contact during high speeds. In addition, there is a small paint chip that has been neatly touched up on the passenger side door located near the door handle. Lastly, there is a scuff on the lower portion of the rear bumper. These blemishes are very mild and do not require any immediate attention. The wheels have incurred no curb rash or damage, showing like new, sitting on a set of Michelin Pilot Sport tires with an acceptable amount of tread life left. The front lip is in excellent condition free of any scuffs. All of the glass on the car presents crystal clear with no imperfections or damage. Overall, the exterior condition is excellent for the miles and shows like a 6,000 mile example rather than a 26,000 mile car.
The black leather trimmed interior is in like-new condition with no significant blemishes. This example is optioned with painted hard back sport seats, with the driver's seat displaying some light wear on the side bolster. Aside from those items, the seats are in very presentable condition, having no tears, punctures, or discoloration. The door jams are remarkably neat, showing clean paint and maintaining all stickers that were installed by the factory. The grey rugs are unblemished, as are the door panels, matching the excellent quality of the rest of the interior. The factory head unit has been replaced with an aftermarket Alpine unit which offers wifi radio, on board navigation, and Bluetooth connectivity. The original head unit will be included in the sale. Each of the door panels are in great shape and in complete working order. The finish on the doorsill in which the hood/trunk release are housed does show slight scuffing from getting in and out of the car. Furthermore, all of the gauges are operational, reading accurately, and the remainder of the electronics are fully operational with no issues.
Moving our inspection to the engine bay, once again there is nothing to note in terms of imperfections. The correct markings and stickers are all present and every component in its respectable place. All items have been left in their stock specifications with no modifications whatsoever. The front trunk has been well kept with all surfaces appearing neat and tidy, maintaining the factory data sticker still present at the base of the underside of the trunk lid. The underside proves no inconsistencies and displays no evidence of previous damage or need for repairs. There are no signs of leaks coming from the engine or transmission, everything seemingly to be in order.
It is clear that the cosmetic condition of this example is up to par which also proves true about the mechanical condition. This particular car has been regularly and thoroughly maintained, having detailed service records from new, always being serviced by a Porsche dealer. The receipts denote routine synthetic oil changes and maintenance checks with no system left unattended to. With that in mind, there is no surprise that this example is in correct working order, having no issues to report. A turn of the ignition and the engine instantly fires and idles smoothly. The 5-speed automatic tiptronic gearbox changes from gear-to-gear as intended and makes for comfortable long journeys. There are no rattles or unwanted noises, even during high speeds, and the steering feels spot on. Engage the brakes and they will promptly take off speed with no pulling or fade. There are simply no issues to mention for this is truly an example one can get in and drive without worry.
