For Sale: 1971 Chevrolet Corvette in Hingham, Massachusetts

Vehicle Description

Being offered for sale is arguably the finest, most original, matching numbers, un-restored 1971  Corvette to be found. This is an absolute time capsule of a factory stock 1971 Corvette T-Top Coupe. The car has its original War Bonnet Yellow exterior paint with completely original Black vinyl interior, M40 Turbo Hydra-Matic Automatic Transmission, 350/270hp engine, and 3.08:1 positraction rear axle. The car has 7,131 documented miles, comes with the original Corvette Order Copy (Tank Sheet), complete owner history and the Gold Standard in national Corvette judging awards, the NCRS 5 Star Bowtie Award and NCRS Duntov Award of Excellence, which were awarded at the NCRS 2010 National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina. In fact, this 1971 War Bonnet Yellow Corvette scored 99.3 in NCRS National Flight Judging and is believed to be the highest scoring un-restored pre 1973 NCRS Corvette in existence.

The significance of an un-restored vs. restored vehicle is clearly articulated by Hemmings Editor in Chief, Richard Lentinello in his book: It’s Only Original Once , when he states: “Original cars…are our only glimpse into the past, thus affording us the wonderful opportunity to study first hand the way manufacturing techniques were carried out during all the different decades and periods of automobile production. We can see how the assembly line workers applied the paint and inspection marks how the upholstery was stitched and carpet was bound…and which types of fasteners were used for specific applications. Better than shop manuals, unrestored cars are existing proof of the way automobiles used to be built they are the only true guidebook that restorers can use to ensure that the cars they are restoring are rebuilt to the factory correct manner.”

Rare are the collector cars untouched by time or restorers—cars that still wear their original parts, paint, upholstery and trim. It’s their rarity and significance which make these cars stand out at collector-car auctions around the world and explains the high prices they command and the pride in ownership, which accompanies these cars.

This 1971 War Bonnet Yellow Corvette is truly an investment grade collectible automobile. Nicely optioned with Power Steering, Power Brakes, Air Conditioning, AM/FM radio, and Raised White Lettered Tires, the car has excellent provenance. It is documented with its Corvette Order Copy (tank sheet) and complete owner history. The car had been in the original owner’s family from 1971 until 1999. Titles from 1985 on verify the milage and owners. The rare distinction of achieving both the NCRS Duntov Award of Excellence and the NCRS 5 Star Bowtie Award of Preservation puts this Corvette in a elite class of extremely well preserved original Corvettes. There are very few Corvettes which have been so recognized. For the discriminating automobile collector who desires the “best of the best” and will settle for no less, here is an opportunity to acquire a truly outstanding Corvette, which can not be duplicated.
