If you've ever considered a C3 Corvette then take a good look at
this one. This 1969 numbers-matching L46 (350ci 350hp) 4-speed is a
beautiful example with a lot going for it. It has been well
maintained throughout its life and has a comprehensive ownership
history. It has never been through a complete restoration, but
rather received constant care as needed. This has kept the car
looking and running great, in addition to keeping things
original.
This Corvette has been driven 82,700 documented miles, with less
than 9,000 miles since 1981 (about 250 miles per year for the last
36 years). It has a rust-free frame that is free of any damage. The
body received one bare-glass repaint in its original code 986
Cortez Silver many years ago. Other body items include rechromed
bumpers and a new side exhaust. The Rally wheels are excellent,
especially with the Firestone F70-15 Redline tires.
Under the hood is the original L46 engine, complete with VIN
stamping and HW suffix code. Factory rated at 350 hp, this was the
most powerful Corvette small block in 1969. The motor was rebuilt
to stock specifications with 11:1 pistons and the correct hydraulic
camshaft. Note all the ignition shielding is in place along with
the A.I.R. pump and related plumbing.
The transmission is the original 4-speed Muncie M20, also complete
with VIN stamp and A suffix code. It still has a functional
backdrive too (must be in reverse to remove the key, and must have
key turned to shift out of reverse). The factory 3.36 Positraction
rear end is a great setup for a non-overdrive transmission. The car
is a blast to drive; there's nothing like running through the gears
on a side exhaust Corvette! There is also factory power steering
for easy maneuvering at any speed. The manual 4-wheel disc brakes
are very effective and require surprisingly little effort.
The interior is code 402 black leather; much nicer than the vinyl
of the day. This 1969 is exceptional in that everything works
properly. Of course you have the speedometer, gauges, interior
lights, horn, and parking brake. But you also have power windows,
AM/FM radio (factory), heater/defroster, vents, and
tilt/telescoping wheel (a must-have on a C3). The fiber optics are
exceptionally bright. The key buzzer works. All vacuum systems
(headlights, wiper door) function properly. This car also has the
rare speed warning indicator, which also works. Even the clock
works!
This is a beautiful steel-bumper C3 in very nice condition. It has
a desirable numbers-matching drivetrain, a good blend of options,
and a known history. Further, it is a complete car with all its
proper equipment in good working order. And best of all, it is
great fun to drive and will put a smile on your face.
