Vehicle Description
Gorgeous Auburn Speedster factory built by respected California
Custom Coach based in Pasadena, CA! Excellent color presentation
of Burgundy & Black, Cleveland 400ci power plant, automatic
transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, and more! Awesome
driver!\ One of the most revered designs to come from the 1930's
showrooms would be the 1935 Auburn 851 Speedster. It was quickly
adapted and replicated by the 1970's using modern fiberglass
molding practices. Using updated engines, chassis', braking
components, automatic transmissions, it quickly became a leisurely
car to own and drive! Although not exactly cheap, California Custom
Coach, based in Pasadena, CA, produced a full, factory built
turn-key "Model 876" example for a hefty $37,500 in the 1970's!
Primarily consisting of a stretched Ford chassis, drivetrain, and
suspension, they provided faithful service to their proud owners
driving them down the road! We are excited to offer this California
Custom Coach 1936 Auburn 876 Speedster finished in glossy Burgundy
& Black two-tone exterior over Light Tan interior and matching Tan
top. Power comes from a torquey 1971 date-coded 400ci V8 engine
mated to C6 automatic transmission! Options include power steering,
power front disc brakes, Classic Instruments Vintage black dial
gauges with polished bezels, Dual CD/AM/FM/MP3/Aux audio system,
seat belts, wood steering wheel, functional golf bag door, rear
fender rock guards, sill guards, dual cowl lamps, dual exterior
mirrors, hood ornament, Trippe fog lamps, and 15" bolt-on chrome
wire spoke wheels wrapped in Coker Classic 235/75R15 radial
whitewall tires! California Custom Coach began producing kits for
owners in 1976, but elected to make all examples factory turn-key
in 1979 to protect quality control and ensure safely finished
units. They became known as one of the best replica manufactures in
the nation, also adding other vehicles to the lineup over the
years, including an Auburn Phaeton and Ferrari Daytona Spider.
Today, they continue to be respected as confident choice for driver
enthusiasts worldwide. This example landed with its most recent
owner showcasing just 3,357 miles on the original odometer. He
elected to replace those standard VDO gauges with a classier
version supplied from Classic Instruments to give the dash an
outstanding, vintage throwback while allowing for the entire dash
to be replaced with brand new wiring. Today, the new odometer reads
only 211 miles so this vehicle will be sold "exempt" for this
reason. It continues to run and operate so wonderfully with a full
dual exhaust system providing a robust exhaust note, K&N
reusable air filter, Flex-a-Lite electric cooling fan, finned
aluminum valve covers, Edelbrock Performer 400 aluminum intake &
Edelbrock 600cfm 4-barrel carburetor. Also included will be a
California Car Cover, charger, auxiliary top, original radio in a
box, and the factory issued gauges. We encourage potential buyers
to act quickly! This is a stellar CCC example ready to enjoy
immediately! Titled as a model year1936as anAuburn make out of
Missouri. Thanks for looking!
