1958 CHEVROLET BELAIR 4 DOOR HARDTOP
1958 Chevrolet Belair 4 door hardtop with rebuilt 348ci engine with 4-barrel carb (with restored oil bath air filter) and 2 speed Powerglide, has power steering and power brakes as well. Car was complete before disassembly occurred. All trim, knobs, nuts, bolts, visors, doors, glass and even the ignition and trunk keys are here! All parts are tagged, bagged, and stored on-site. Car was last worked on in 1999 and has been stored for 18 years. 348 ci engine is rebuilt and on an engine stand. 4-barrel carb and Powerglide are not restored. Part numbers and casting codes for major engine parts can be seen in one of the photos. Car is two tone Anniversary Gold and Honey Beige. Car body has been separated from the frame and is on a body rotator.
I have a clear title for this car. All photos show the current condition of the car. An extra 1958 generator, speedometer assembly and a restored 1957 2bbl oil bath air filter included.
Entire car as well as engine stand and body rotator must go as job loss and out-of-state relocation forces this sale. 348 ci engine rebuild was by Stradley's Machine Shop in Titusville Florida in 1999 at a cost of $1852. All parts replaced except crankshaft which was mic'd and polished. Excel spreadsheet documents the work and part number of replacement parts. Reproduction parts from Auto City (autocityclassic.com) or NOS parts purchased for this car but not yet installed total $1470 and also go with the sale.
Car is in good shape except for rust which can be seen in photos. Some rust has been cut out ready for the replacement sheet metal which is included of this sale. Trunk floor is solid.
Frame is solid and has been sandblasted and painted a flat black and as mentioned before has been separated from the body. The body is on a body rotator but little work has been done on it.
This is not a rolling chassis. The frame is stored on the concrete of the garage with the body directly above it on a body rotator. Reassembly of the car prior to removal is not possible within my timeframe. Frame and body must be removed separately. Body rotator does have wheels so it can be moved. As mentioned before, engine stand and body rotator are part of this sale.
Needs a good home and someone who has time to restore it! Time has gotten away from me and now out-of-state job relocation forces me to sell.
