For Sale: 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air in Westport, Connecticut

Vehicle Description

There is no car in the world that represents the “Decade of Innocence” better than he 1957 Chevrolet.  Perfectly proportioned lines combined with bright colors and the all-important tail fin allows the 1957 Chevrolet to epitomize the styling of this wonderful era where glamour and glitz ruled the American road.  Quite simply, Chevrolet’s cars for 1957 were a favorite of families and hot-rodders alike, a fact that allowed GM’s bowtie to sell 1,522,536 cars for the year outselling rival Ford by just 136 cars.  It was a close race, but in the end American car buyers thought that Chevrolet had the edge and with great cars like the Corvette, the Nomad wagon, One-fifty, Two-Ten, and the fabulous Bel Air it was quite easy to see why.

Chevrolet’s top-of-the-line Bel Air for 1957 is nicely represented in this beautiful convertible in Matador Red.  This is a fully restored car that looks splendid from all angles.  Although there was certainly no shortage of dazzling chrome for Chevy’s Bel Air, GM took matters one step further with gold anodized trim work on the front and sides.  This example also wears a set of fender skirts and a continental spare tire kit for the classic smooth and streamlined look of the 1950s.  The interior is finished in Chevrolet’s two-tone red with silver inserts.  All upholstery, door panels, carpet, and trim appointments present as new in this fine restoration.  It also achieves the classic 1950s look with a set of spinner hubcaps and wide white wall tires.  Power comes from Chevrolet’s tried and proven 283 V-8 and an automatic transmission that easily allows this Bel Air to cruise at modern highway speeds.  The sound that emanates from its dual exhaust gives a low and powerful growl that’s just right for a 1950s cruiser.

Chevrolet’s Bel Air for 1957 was a car that came to represent an era, a fact not lost in the 1983 film “Eddie and the Cruisers.”  This 1957 Bel Air convertible with its high quality restoration and tasteful option package is the very best of the 1950s.  For power to spare in a car that runs as good as it looks, this 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air is more than ready for summer fun.
