For Sale: 1971 Chevrolet Corvette in Lake Wylie, South Carolina

Vehicle Description

For those who appreciate the road handling dexterity unique to small block Corvettes, and want  race track performance, the model of choice in the 3rd generation Corvette is unquestionably and always been the LT1 Corvette. These are the small block Corvettes that deliver big block acceleration while being able to handle a road course like the best European competitors. Only available from 1970 thru 1972, the LT1 Corvettes are coveted by Corvette aficionados because they offer the zenith of performance and handling in the C3 Corvette and out of a 3 year production of 66,121 Corvettes only 4,977 (approximately 7.5%) had the LT1 option. These are the last of the legendary solid lifter Corvettes. This 1971 Sunflower Yellow LT1 convertible is an especially rare Corvette. Out of a total 1971 production of 21,800, only 1,949 were built with the LT1 engine option. Total convertible production was 7,177 or 5.4% of total production. If the distribution ofLT1 Corvette convertibles mirrored the production of all Corvette convertibles in 1971, we can assume there were 633 LT1 convertibles built, which is 32.5% of the LT1 production of 1,949. If the Sunflower Yellow production mirrored the total production, by extrapolation, we can estimate the total number of 1971 LT1 Sunflower Yellow convertibles to be 34, which is 5.4% of 633 LT1 convertibles built at the St. Louis Corvette Assembly Plant for the 1971 model year.

The 1971 Sunflower Yellow, with Black interior and Black soft top LT1 convertible, being offered for sale, is powered by a 350ci V8, with a compression ratio of 9.0:1, producing 330 hp @ 5600 rpm and 360ft.lbs. of torque @ 4000 rpm and has the M21 close ratio 4-Speed manual transmission. Press the peddle to the floor, take it up near red line, run through the gears, and you know you’re behind the wheel of a truly awesome sports car. There are Corvettes and there are special Corvettes. The C3 LT1 Corvettes clearly are among the very special Corvettes. This is the Corvette that cries out: “throw me a curve and let me show you world class sports car performance in action.” BTW, the Corvettes that handle the road and drive the best are the Corvettes that have not been taken off their frames and had their chassis disassembled and restored. There is no substitution for factory components and factory assembly. Please take the time to view the photos and see the original factory markings on the underside and see what these Corvettes looked like when the rolled off the assembly line.

Original, low mileage C3 LT1 Corvette convertibles are exceedingly difficult to find and stand out when they appear on the judging field or show up at the local cruise night. These are the Corvettes that draw the attention of true Corvette enthusiasts and result in their owner’s standing a little taller, with chests that appear a little fuller. While there is inherent pride in Corvette ownership, it is the low production high performance race track inspired models which are the ones coveted by those who know and love Corvettes and identify with the racing heritage which has always been the fuel to push the envelope in Corvette design and engineering.

The car is located in Lake Wylie, SC. It is recommended interested parties take the opportunity of seeing the car in person and taking a test drive to appreciate the outstanding Corvette being offered and experience the difference of this car and other chrome bumper shark Corvettes being offered for sale. Interesting trades will be considered.
