Vehicle Description
Custom one off roadster. All aluminum body and chrome-moly tube
frame was built in the early 1950's by Dick Kraft and Art Ingels
(body and frame fabricator for the famed Kurtis Indy and sports
cars). This body was constructed by Ingles for Doc Young, chief
surgeon for many years at the Lemoore, California hospital and a
well known figure in the sport of car racing. This body was built
with a taller nose piece and higher hood profile to accommodate a 4
cylinder Ferguson engine.
The car was never completed by Young (who is no longer living). The
frame and body panels changed hands twice before being assembled
into a vehicle by Bill Durst in 1986. Purchased by the current
owner in 1989 and used sparingly before being put in storage.
Before being put in storage in the early 1990's the car was shown
at the Oakland Roadster Show (trophy included).
Current owner pulled the car from dry storage and had it completely
gone through including an engine rebuild with a performance
camshaft regrind (see receipts in photos). The car has under 100
miles on it since rebuild. Engine is a 2.0L Ford Capri 4 cylinder
with a Weber carb.4 speed transmission and rear are Pinto. 1937
Ford front tube axle with VW disc brakes. Dodge Colt cross
steering. Custom grille and nerf bar. Imron paint still shows well.
Appliance spoke wheels with old Pirelli tires.
The car runs and drives excellent and would make a great
driver/show car and could even make a great autocross car with very
few updates. Currently registered. Clean California title in hand.
Very rare and fun car.
