By 1972 things were changing at General Motors and its brands. High-performance and big displacement engines were on their way out to accommodate rising emissions and fuel standards. At Oldsmobile, the model saw the most dramatic change was the popular Cutlass line, still offered in a variety of trim levels ranging from the Holiday coupe to the S sport coupe and convertible. The 442 was no longer a stand-alone model, but was an option package available on the different trims. The 442 package had been reduced from the high-performance bundle it once was to essentially an appearance package with the FE2 suspension upgrade. It consisted of side stripes, fender and decklid badging, hood louvers and an upgraded grille. The standard power plant across all trim levels was the 350 V8 backed by a 3-speed automatic or 4-speed manual.
This 1972 Cutlass features a gold exterior and tan interior, and features 442 options like the striping, badging, trunk spoiler and hood. It’s powered by the standard 350ci V8 with 3-speed automatic transmission utilizing a console floor shift. Additionally, the car is equipped with factory air conditioning, twin sport mirrors, power steering and brakes. The wheels have been upgraded to 5-spoke American Racing wheels and a modern stereo system has been added
