The Z/28 option package was introduced 1967 with the launch of the Camaro. It featured a list of options aimed at making the car competitive in the Trans-Am racing series, with a goal of beating other offerings from rival companies like Ford, Dodge and AMC. Since SCCA rules regulated engine displacement, all Z/28s came with a solid-lifter 302ci engine, close-ratio 4-speed Muncie transmission, upgraded suspension and power front disc brakes. Designers wanted to match the appearance to the upgraded performance, so racing stripes were added on the hood and trunk lid.
This car is a real factory-built Z/28 and features date-code-correct running gear. The optional Cross-Ram dual carburetor intake manifold has been added, and all casting dates match up. It’s finished in the original shade of LeMans Blue with black interior. Additionally, the car has a copy of its original Window Sticker, as well as restoration photos.
