Vehicle Description
Motorcar Studio is pleased to offer this highly original and
well-documented 1971 Fiat 124 1600 Sport Spider. This example is a
case study in originality and correctness; single-family ownership
from new until our acquisition in 2016 with 89000 documented
miles.Impeccable records to new including the original sales
documents when the first owner an Air Force pilot took delivery
while stationed in Italy. After returning to the U.S. this Fiat
lived in Texas North Carolina and Georgia and is remarkably rust
free and wearing its original paint.Recent extensive mechanical
freshening including complete engine tune up timing belt brake
rebuild carb rebuild new tires on desirable Cromodora wheels new
convertible top engine detail and more.Interior is original and
excellent with only minor patina on the wood veneer; a working
period Blaupunkt is fitted. Paint and body are likewise in
excellent original condition with the finish showing minor patina
but in a condition far too nice to consider a repaint. Notably this
124 was delivered with the rare Pininfarina hardtop option which
has a fantastic look and has been well kept.Performance is
sprightly thanks to the quick-revving twin cam with a higher
compression ratio and less smog equipment than later cars; couple
that with the much lighter and better-looking early bumpers and it
makes for a nice package. The five-speed gearbox exhibits none of
the typical synchro issues and is a joy to use.Original tools books
matching spare records sales docs and sales literature are
included. For more information about this 1971 Fiat 124 Spider for
