Oldsmobile 442. Many consider the 1970 442 the pinnacle of
performance for Olds. GM dropped the cap size on the motors in 1970
and Olds responded by making the 455 the standard engine in the 442
models. The revised body style and increased performance resulted
in the 4-4-2 being awarded pace car duties at the Indianapolis 500
race in 1970.Motor Trend praised the 4-4-2, stating that "it's
probably the most identifiable super car in the GM house". This
1970 Oldsmobile 442 Convertible was produced in the Lansing,
Michigan Assembly Plant and shipped February 6 1970. Finished in a
high gloss Matador Red and complemented by white stripes on the
optional �W25 "forced air induction" hood. Also, featuring a white,
power convertible top and immaculate Pear white bucket interior,
this car is a true show stopper in this combination. This factory
�442 went through a 10 year, frame off restoration and has seen
little use since. The matching numbers 455/365hp engine was rebuilt
during the restoration, as well as the Muncie 4 speed close ratio
manual transmission and 3:42 Positraction rear end. Some factory
options that this 442 left the assembly line with are; AM
pushbutton radio, heavy duty radiator with transmission oil cooler,
custom appearance package, Super Stock II wheels with polyglass
tires, �and front compartments floor console. This 1970 Oldsmobile
is GM documented and has many other accompanying information such
as a 442 Identification report, several pictures from the
restoration, an Oldsmobile restoration guide, and an original
Cutlass and 442 Brooklands Book. This documented 442 Oldsmobile
convertible is a representation of one of the greatest muscle cars
that Oldsmobile has ever produced. With only 500 miles since the
restoration it is in beautiful condition and is ready for show use
