This 1982 Chevrolet Corvette Collector's Edition for sale is the
last of the C3 Corvettes, ending almost a 15 year reign of smooth
and sexy curves. 25,407 Corvettes for sale were produced during the
1982 model year, with 6,759 of those being the Collector's Edition.
It differed from base models in several ways including a higher
level of standard features which were only optional on base models.
This Collector's Edition Corvette for sale was built in the Bowling
Green, KY plant, starting which would become one of the most well
known production plants in the nation. Powering this Vette for sale
is an epic 350 cubic inch small block Chevy V8 engine. The '82
Corvettes adopted a Cross-Fire Injection system, to become the
first 'fuelie' Vette since 1965. The fuel injection system looks
similar to a cross-ram set-up, giving the engine bay quite an
aesthetically pleasing appeal. The Cross-Fire's higher level of
sophistication added 10 horsepower, giving it a rock solid 200hp.
Chevrolet also dropped the 4-speed manual transmission and went
strictly with the 4-speed automatic transmission. This would be the
first time since 1954 you could only buy a Corvette with an
automatic transmission only. The exterior is a specialty color of
Silver Beige. With special racing stripes, T-tops, and a lift
hatchback, this car was a unique factory built beauty. Special
features came standard on this Collector's Edition. One that
catches most eyes, is the special wheels styled similarly to the
1967 style turbo-wheels. The interior has a special Silver Beige
interior scheme which includes beautiful tri-tone leather seats and
