Vehicle Description
For sale in our Fort Lauderdale showroom is this stunning 1955
Pontiac Star Chief Convertible. In 1955 GM made two different
Pontiacs: American and Canadian. The Canadian Chevrolet plant
fitted Pontiac tail lights and front ends to 1955 Chevrolets, added
a Pontiac dashboard, body trim and special hub caps, to fit the
Chevy wheels, and called them Pontiacs. The entire rest of the car
is a 1955 Chevrolet including the interior and a 265 Chevy V8 with
"Pontiac" stamped on the Chevy valve covers. There were only 65o
Canadian convertibles produced. Very few survived the harsh
Canadian environment. This example of a RUST FREE, well cared for,
original 39,000 mile car with a 265 V8 is truly rare. Once again,
all eyes lit up when this car rolled into our South Florida
showroom. A piece of American History, that looks and drives close
to brand new after 61 years. Only the new car smell is gone. Is
there a better color combination than black/red for a 50's
convertible out there? Not one that shines like this beauty. The
whole car is just clean; fantastic paint; interior; chrome;
undercarriage. No signs of any kind of rust underneath the car;
panels; trunk or anywhere else. This is how it should be. The Star
Chief runs like a dream. The 265ci V8 engine sounds strong and
moves the car without any problems. The transmission shifts through
the gears like a warm knife through butter. This Pontiac will go
another 60 years with ease. If you look at this piece of art on
wheels, it will prove again that the Americans built the most
beautiful, and best cars in the 50's. She's in excellent condition
and this Star Chief will look great in any collection; at the golf
club or in front of your favorite restaurant. Press the power top
button and enjoy the open air convertible. Wherever you show up in
this beautiful car, people will get a big smile on their face. This
is a must see. She is ready for a new owner!
