level of quality and sophistication and the R107 model would be no
exception. Introduced in 72 year as a replacement for the W113
series the 107 would make an unprecedented model run all the way
through 89. This 78 is a great example of an original well
preserved 450. The exterior is finished in the classic red
reminding you this is a sports car. With the front engine rear
wheel drive design handling characteristics are not quite what you
would expect. The ride is plush yet stiff with the just the right
amount road feel making it an absolute pleasure to drive.
Especially considering the whole front end was just recently
rebuilt at the tune of nearly 3000 dollars. All of the control arm
and sub-frame bushings were replaced as well as the motor mounts.
Even the actual sub-frame was replaced giving this 78 a fresh new
feel. After all of that work a fresh 4 wheel alignment was done
ensuring a straight down the road drive. The chrome wheels were a
huge upgrade. The removable hardtop is a great feature and finishes
off the exterior nicely. The interior is exactly what you would
expect from a Benz. There is enough high quality leather to cover
three sofas with the bucket seats being as comfortable as they
look. The interior door panels are in great condition and
definitely remind you that you are in a high end luxury car. With
the late 70's and early 80's German cars being one of the hottest
commodities in the collector car market this beauty is sure to find
a new home quickly. Please note the electrical system will need
some attention, as the headlights are not working correctly.
