A hot rod that's designed to be as comfortable as it is
eye-catching, this 1938 Ford Custom Pickup has all the swagger with
no shortage of amenities and commendable attention to detail. Its
cab has been stretched four inches for a more comfortable
configuration and the bed has been shorted accordingly to retain
its overall length. The interior is completed in a custom two-tone
red and black, featuring a bench seat with seatbelts, high-end
stereo and a modern air conditioning system.
Under its hood sits a 1978 Windsor 302-cid V-8, making it a "Ford
within a Ford," albeit with some significant enhancements. The V-8
has been over-bored and stroked to 348 cubic inches. Racing
pistons, rods, and an aluminum motorsports head combine with a
Holley four-barrel carburetor with an electronic choke. A six-speed
automatic delivers power to the rear wheels via a 9-inch Ford rear
end with disc brakes. Up front, a reworked power steering system
provides more legroom for drivers and turns the wheels via a
Mustang II front suspension and staggered 18 and 20-inch Foose
five-spoke alloy wheels.
