Chevrolet introduced the Fleetmaster in 1946 as their flagship
automobile, replacing the pre-war Special Deluxe. The Fleetmasters
were only built for three years, being replaced in 1949 by the
Chevrolet Deluxe with Styleline and Fleetline sub-series.
That makes this 1948 Chevy Fleetmaster, built at the end of a short
run, a unique and highly collectible car. So many of these cars are
chopped and dropped and turned into hardcore hot rods. This car has
escaped extensive external modifications, retaining its classic
good looks, yet boasting an extensively modified drivetrain.
A 350 horse-350 cubic inch V8, Turbo Hydramatic four speed
transmission, '74 Nova front clip with power front disc brakes,
rear end from a '77 Cadillac Seville - and that's just for
starters! This car was restored from an abandoned hulk and the work
was done with excellence and attention to detail. Look at the
hand-painted wood-grain look interior trim....the fantastic
upholstery work by Don's Upholstery...the sparkling brandywine
exterior! The exhaust barks when the engine revs, and the tires
bite, moving this sweet machine forward with a jump.
