GR Auto Gallery is pleased to offer this low mile, well preserved,
1980 Mazda RX-7. When introduced for model year 1979, the RX7 was
an instant success among motoring and driving enthusiasts. The
Wankel designed, two-rotor, rotary engine has high rpm capabilities
producing more torque than horsepower. This, with its light weight
design, 50/50 weight distribution and live rear axle, proved to be
a spirited performer on and off the track. The high torque curve
meant fast exits from corner apexes and the proven MacPherson
struts and coil springs up front kept everything pointed in the
right direction. The RX-7's design was fresh compared to the aging
looks of its competition, and Car and Driver magazine made it one
of its top picks for 1980.
The 1980 Mazda RX-7 offered here is a wonderfully preserved example
sold new at Marty R's Mazda of Garland Texas. The car remains
completely original with the exception of one quality repaint in
its original Solar Gold Metallic paint over Seattle Brown Vinyl
interior. The car came fully optioned including the "GS" package
factory installed rear seat, 5 speed manual transmission, Air
Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, AM/FM Stereo, Power rear mounted
antenna, Electric Retractable Headlights, Rear Stabilizer Bar,
Intermittent Windshield Wipers, Left and Right Door Mirrors,
Anti-Corrosion Side Sill Paint, Quartz Clock, Ignition Key
Reminder, Body Side Protector Moulding, Electric Rear Widow
Defroster, Tinted Glass, Sunshade, Electric Hatchback opener,
Driver Side Foot Rest, Tachometer. Since, the car has had 3
responsible owners and has been driven just 51314 miles until our
recent acquisition. As a result, this RX7 remains in excellent
condition. Mechanically, the car is on the button and ready for
immediate enjoyment. The car pulls strong in every gear, the
suspension is tight, and the braking is true; performing as it did
in March of 1980 when the car was delivered new, and the air
conditioning blows cold. Cosmetically, the car has great paint, an
outstanding original interior, the original engine bay remains
clean and detailed, and clean clean original underside.
The Mazda RX-7 has etched its way into automotive history and is
poised to rapidly increase in value. A exceptionally kept, fully
