Opinions on the origin of the muscle car vary, but the 1949 Oldsmobile Rocket 88, created in response to public interest in speed and power, is often cited as the first muscle car. But as the 60's came about American's love for power was answered by Pontiac release of the Leman's optioned "GTO", a term that drew ire from the folks at Ferrari. The 1965 carried over many of the styling options from the 64' but with modification of the headlamps, grill and other tweaks. This 1965 Pontiac GTO Convertible is powered by a, 389 Tri-power twisting into a smooth shift 4-spd manual transmission. Its options include Power Steering, Wilwood 4-Wheel Power Disc Brakes, Power Top, Factory Tach, Bucket Seats, Tilt Wheel and rare factory air conditioning.
