Please contact us for more information. 1970 Volkswagen Westfalia Corrido Tequila Bay Window Camper Bus Manufactured in November of 1970 the 1971 Volkswagen Bay Window is the most sought after year for the Bay Window Volkswagens. The 1971 was the last year of the Upright 1600cc Dual Port motor and also came factory with front disc brakes. Many refinements have been made since the first Westfalia camper buses. It has a 110volt plug in for camping and the rear seat folds down into a bed. There is a factory stool very rare as well as cabinet space a closet and sink with icebox. The factory hammock for children that drapes across the front seats is included. There is also a screen that keeps the bugs out while camping if you decide to leave the back door open. The table between the seats folds out of the way for travel. This particular model is known as the Weekender because it does not have the pop top option found on most Westfalia conversions which makes this model even more rare. Westfalia is the designation of various specially converted Volkswagen camper vans. It is named after Westfalia-Werke the contractor that built the vans which is headquartered in the town of Rheda-Wiedenbrck located in the Westphalia region of Germany. Westfalia-Werke began converting Volkswagen buses in 1951. Their famous pop-top package was added later and became very popular on the second-generation VW Bus from 1968 to 1979. This design also inspired many imitators with dozens of other companies worldwide offering pop-top van conversions. Therefore not all pop-top Volkswagens are Westfalia conversions although in the United States the Westfalia conversion was by far the most common. Conversely not all Volkswagen Westfalia conversions had pop-tops or cooking facilities. Volkswagen offered a Weekender package in the 1970s with a Westfalia interior but no pop-top. Later some Vanagon conversions were offered with a pop-top and interior table but lacked cooking facilities and instead included a luggable 12 volt refrigerator. This Volkswagen was recently owned by the Corrido Tequila Company True Blue Imports here in Scottsdale AZ which went into bankruptcy in 2014. The advertising is a vehicle wrap over the factory red paint. The Volkswagen was restored within the last 5 to 7 years by the company and was rarely used mainly as a display vehicle for events. All of the interior seating and flooring was just recently redone.
