The race-bred brainchild of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania's Don Yenko, one of America's premier road-racers and high-performance Chevy dealers, the Yenko Camaro remains one of the quickest and most-coveted American supercars of all time. Just 198 were built for 1969, with their 425-horsepower L72 427 engines factory-installed courtesy of Chevy's infamous COPO Corporate Office Production Order fleet-ordering pipeline.
Factory-built with both Chevrolet's COPO 9561 High-Performance and 9737 Sports Car Conversion packages, the Yenko cars included Chevy's brutal 427/425 L72 engine plus heavy-duty suspension and cooling systems, the ZL2 Cowl Induction hood, power front disc brakes, 4.101 Positraction rear axle, 15x7 wheels, E70x15 tires, a 140-mph speedometer, front and rear spoilers, and a larger front sway bar. Following delivery to Yenko Chevrolet, signature touches included a Stewart-Warner tachometer, custom wheels, and unique Yenko graphics, stripes, and Yenko-accented seats. Yenko also re-labeled the 427's air-cleaner lid with a more accurate 450-horsepower rating.

Yenko's highly tweaked Camaro was available in small numbers for 1967 and '68, with their factory-original 396 V-8 engines replaced with RPO L72 427 units at Yenko's facilities. According to experts, just 198 were built for 1969, this time with their 425-horsepower L72 427 engines factory-installed courtesy of Chevy's infamous COPO Corporate Office Production Order fleet-ordering pipeline. By virtue of this factory mechanism, the cars were now legal for sanctioned drag racing. While small in numbers, Yenko's monstrous 427-powered Camaros ruled the street and strip with equal authority and they continue to epitomize Chevrolet's 1960s high-performance cars. Today, no serious high-performance collection is complete without one; however, demand continues to far outstrip available supplies of these monstrous performers today.
This excellent 1969 Yenko clone is an original big-block Camaro. Great high-performance upgrades include 4.111 rear-end gears and a pair of Chevrolet L89 aluminum high-performance cylinder heads. Other highlights include a powerful MSD ignition system and a Tremec five-speed manual transmission for outstanding performance beyond the envelope of the original four-speed cars. This Camaro was even featured on Barry Meguiar's Car Crazy television show, in which the owner was interviewed with the car.
