Extremely rare today as one of only 514 examples originally produced, this 1966 Chrysler Imperial Crown Convertible features celebrated styling and marks the last model year for the full body-on-frame Imperial design. Highly original, this desirable Black Plate California car is a rust-free example loaded with features and options. Among them are the powerful, matching numbers Imperial 440 cubic-inch V-8 engine mated to Chrysler's outstanding Torqueflite automatic transmission. Other highlights include factory air conditioning, dual power seats with headrests, release-recline passenger seat, leather upholstery, the original AM-FM radio, cruise control, and a remote mirror and trunk release. Power-operated items include the antenna, convertible top, and windows. Beautifully presented and unadulterated, this Imperial Crown remains excellent throughout. Clearly pampered since new, it has traveled 114,000 original miles. It was recently purchased from the estate of the prior owner, who acquired the Imperial during the 1980s. Repainted once in its factory-specified Haze Green, this Imperial delivers an outstanding visual presence, in combination with the all original Dark Green interior. As a solid, rust-free, and highly original vehicle, this Imperial Crown retains the original glass, bright trim, and weather stripping. This car Imperial was stored indoors and treated as a true collector car should be. The beautiful all original Dark Green leather interior looks amazing and even retains the original carpeting. All chrome, trim, and wood grain on the dash remains as-new, clean, and bright, the dash pad is excellent, and the original clear plastic steering wheel is near-perfect. The beautiful white soft top was replaced, using the correct Chrysler material. The Imperial even retains the original plastic hard boot cover with the Imperial logo, in mint condition. Similarly, the trunk compartment is clean and all original with its original trunk material, spare, and jack in place. The Consignor advises the engine and transmission operate flawlessly, with the Imperial running and driving with no issues at all. The original numbers matching 440 cubic-inch motor provides great power, fires right up, and runs as new. The engine compartment is all stock and original to match the rest of the car. This outstanding Imperial is reported by the Consignor to be an absolute pleasure to drive, capable of being fired up and ready to cruise on command; in fact, it was recently driven on an 800-mile road trip, didn't miss a beat, and ran perfectly. Riding on a set of four brand new whitewall tires, this 1966 Imperial is a great example throughout, complete with the original owner's manuals and the Certicard, which is still inside the original holder under the hood. Smart collectors recognize the 1966 Imperial Crown Convertible as one of the most sought-after classic Chrysler models on the market today and with its top-notch assembly quality and true rarity, it stands as a truly wonderful classic choice.
