The C6 Z06 Corvette really is a triumph of engineering. All its accolades are well deserved, as demonstrated by this nicely optioned 2006 model with 47k miles. There aren't many cars in the world that combine this level of power and performance into such a practical and (relatively) affordable package.
You may be well aware of this car's amazing capabilities, but they're still fun to talk about. It has tremendous speed, with a 3.7-second 0-60 time, 11-second quarter miles, and 198 mph top end. The brakes will stop from 60 mph in only 111 feet. All this and it can still deliver 26 mpg on the highway with the air conditioning running. What other cars can put up numbers like this?
Any discussion of this Corvette must include its aluminum 427 cubic inch (7.0L) 505 hp LS7 engine. It's amazing reliability masks the race-bred technology underneath, such as a dry sump oiling system, titanium connecting rods, sodium filled exhaust valves, and CNC ported cylinder heads. The big motor is linked to a robust Tremec 6-speed manual transmission and limited slip differential with a 3.42 gear ratio.
Handling is also outstanding, and with 275 tires in front / 325 in rear it Is capable of more than 1g of lateral acceleration. The Corvette's traction control is useful for everyday driving but also includes a very effective Competition Mode. Brakes use monster 14" rotors in front / 13.4" rear and have spectacular stopping power. The exhaust is very unique as well with a valve in the mufflers that can turn the system into a 3-inch straight pipe. Yes it sounds fantastic.
In addition to all the standard Z06 goodies (HUD, FE4 suspension, etc.) this car is equipped with the desirable 2LZ package (seat mounted air bags, telescoping steering wheel, auto dimming mirrors inside and out, heated seats, rear privacy shade, memory package, and universal remote transmitter). It also has the Bose audio system with navigation and premium 7-speaker stereo.
I don't think there's a more wicked looking C6 Corvette than a black Z06; the wider proportions and front air intake really enhance the appearance, while the chrome wheels are a great accent. This car's black leather interior is fantastic as well. Everything works perfectly and all manuals are present.
