Vehicle Description
The first year Galaxie 500, 1962, is the most rare and elusive of all Galaxies. Even more rare, this car is equipped with its original 390ci Z-code high-performance 4-barrel engine with original factory cast-iron headers and ultra-rare FoMoCo aluminum intake manifold. In 1962, this Galaxie was the definitive factory-built race car. With 38,000 original miles and two previous owners, the original owner had this car for 50 years. This survivor car is a time capsule, having had only normal restorative work to maintain its original beauty. It is easy to see this rare Galaxie has been meticulously maintained and well-cared-d for its entire life. Finished in its original color of Rangoon Red with original red stylized interior, this Galaxie epitomizes vintage American muscle and the history of the original muscle cars. So powerful and versatile, the big-block Galaxie 500 was the dominating car in NASCAR in 1962. This example is equipped with the original 3-speed manual transmission plus overdrive, power steering, special wide performance wheels, Ford baby-moon hubcaps, vintage tachometer, 3-piece cluster engine gauges, new exhaust system, new brakes and new tires.
