The Pagoda Mercedes-Benz is the result of the company's attempt to build a luxurious sport touring car. A step up from its 190SL predecessor, but not as visceral and high-strung as the 300SL, the 250SL is a refined touring car. The powerful, fuel-injected 2.5-liter, 6-cylinder engine and 4-speed automatic gearbox are matched to an excellent-handling, lightweight chassis. This 250SL is presented with European spec lighting and bumpers as well as the rare California coupe option which substitutes a rear folding bench seat for the convertible soft-top but still retains the removable hardtop. This example has received a comprehensive no-expense-spared restoration approximately 12 years ago and has been lovingly maintained and sparingly driven since.
