The 1996 Mustang Special Vehicles Team (SVT Cobra is powered by a hand-built rapacious 4-cam engine. This new power plant is worlds apart from the venerable 5.0-liter small block it replaced and ushered the SVT Cobra into a new era of modern performance. The brand-new modular engine features dual overhead cams (DOHC) packaged in a 4.6-liter all-aluminum V8 engine making it a real screamer with high-revving characteristics. The Mustang Cobra boasts a 305hp total output which is good for a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds, the quarter-mile in 13.9 and a top speed of 152 mph making it one of the fastest performance cars of its time. Painted in gorgeous E9 Laser Red Tinted Clear Coat this drop-top Mustang has been carefully maintained since new and has 1,762 actual miles on its odometer (mileage not indicated on the title). Of the limited production of 2,510 Cobra Convertibles in 1996, this is one of only 536 produced in this color and interior combination. The sticker price for this fully-loaded muscle car was almost $30,000 in 1996.
