Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd 2017 at Russo and Steeles 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information. This is a Buick 1939 Phaeton Convertible Sedan Model 81-C VIN 83625587 with Sequoia Yellow Exterior and Medium Brown interior in very original condition. However, it was painted one time and the interior was done in the original design at one time. It has a large straight 8-cylinder engine with 320 cu. in. and 141 horsepower. The engine is original to this Buick. It has a 3-speed manual transmission and has the Buick trademark gas pedal starter that works great. The brakes have been recently redone, some suspension work performed, the clutch and steering are both in great condition, and the car looks and drives very well. It is equipped with dual side mounted spare tires and original Buick trim rings and hubcaps. The History of this California car is that it has had only 2 owners The first owner Chauncy S. Goodrich purchased the car the Buick on April 11 1939 at the San Jose Buick dealer. a copy of the Buick Owner Service Policy included with the title verifies this . Included also is the Delco Battery Standard Guarantee and adjustment policy certificate and the tire and wheel information . To quote the beginning of this brochure it reads Owning to high operating speeds of the modern motor car proper tire care has become a very important factor . Mr Goodrich and his family owned and used the Buick until the mid 1950s when it was acquired by the second owner John Bruce Voegtly of Moraga CA a suburb of San Francisco CA. He owned it until early early 2016 when in his 80s sold it to the consignor. Like many California cars this Buick has no rust not even surface rust on the underside it drives very well is comfortable and stands out in any group of Classic American Cars. A Buick Roadmaster Phaeton was the Official Pace Car for the 500 mile race Indianapolis May 30 1939 a poster is with the title .
