Vehicle Description
This Ford GT, VIN 117, was the second full-production Ford GT off the assembly line. All the other low VINs were officially part of the "PB2" build and, as such, pre-production models. The high VINs were chosen because the first car, VIN 116, and VIN 117 were the first two rabbits for the production line. VIN 117 was immediately put on test to determine if there were any issues with the build process or parts. There was a non-stop regimen of mileage accumulation with a target of 35,000 successful miles before Ford could ship any Ford GTs out of the assembly plant. During the first year of production, VIN 117 was kept at the Wixom assembly plant as a prove-out vehicle for any new parts or build processes. Then, in 2005, the car was used to prove-out the Canadian Homologation program and was used to prove-out and validate the Canadian Daytime Running Lamp SJB software. It has since been returned to fully road legal specification. 6-speed manual transmission. 42,839 actual miles. Per CARFAX, this vehicle has an open recall for driver airbag inflator replacement.
