For Sale: 1970 Buick GS 455 in Concord, North Carolina

Vehicle Description

The 1970 Buick GS 455 is the ultimate dream muscle car for many of us. It perfectly blends the worlds of luxury and breathtaking performance. So you it's a special day when you find exceptionally well preserved/restored example that has all the features, right down to the likely original 455 V8.

A Buick in Deep Chestnut brown just seems to represent the 1970s perfectly. And the reason why you find it so attractive today is because this restored coupe was treated to a professional respray that gives a nicer luster than the factory ever could. This hue is the perfect complement to the dark brown vinyl top. Plus, it was one of the final years before chrome bumpers had to sacrifice style for federal regulation. You see this, especially in the rear, where the one-piece bumper creates an entire panel that's crafted to integrate the angular rear fenders and trunk. But the premium appearance is only half of the reason why you really want this Buick so badly. You also love the aggressive touches like the functional hood scoops, black hood stripes, red striping on the rocker panels, and that rear wing that lets everyone know this Buick is no doctor's house call machine.

Inside is the same upscale performance attitude. The original saddle color of the interior look amazing, and it's especially nice when you realize how well it matches the exterior vinyl top. The bucket seats have a cool vented pattern that you'd expect from a classic German car, but of course, the design here is more for sustained driving comfort. The same can be said about the center console, and once again, the performance feeling immediately comes back once you lay your hands on the horseshoe shifter. This GS 455 came loaded, and you can tell the moment you grab the optional X2 Rallye steering wheel. Everything has the feeling of factory-correct and fresh right down to the factory radio. But if you look closely, you'll see one nice upgrade. The real tunes are coming from a modern AM/FM/CD receiver mounted expertly below the dash.

With such an impressive preservation so far, you won't be surprised to know that we suspect the 455 cubic-inch V8 is the original powerplant. Advertised at 350 hp from the factory, we can't help but believe this one has even more power thanks to the more modern Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock aluminum intake, and MSD ignition. And of course, this monster motor makes a monster growl out of Flowmaster dual exhaust. The big block is correctly mated to a TH400 three-speed automatic transmission, but now it benefits from the addition of a Gear Vendors overdrive. Add that to the power steering, front disc brakes, and BF Goodrich T/As on iconic Buick Rallye wheels, and you've got a thundering muscle car that also has everyday sensibilities.

Buick's muscle cars were more expensive than the mainstream, and so finding one this complete today is a rare sight. Make sure you don't miss this opportunity on such a sharp car. Call today!!
