For Sale at Auction: 1963 Chevrolet Corvette in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

This split-window Corvette was owned and restyled by Ray Farhner of Farhner Custom Shop in Kansas City, MO. Called "Outer Limits," the car was built from a brand-new factory split-window coupe that had less than 100 miles on it. The roof ridge was removed entirely. The wheel wells were radiused and the top of the fenders were heightened, arched 4" and finned outward. The door handles were shaved and replaced with electrical solenoids. The white leather interior features red carpet, and the double hump dash was modified to be asymmetrical. The build was completed in late 1963. It was featured in Rod & Custom magazine. In 1971, the car was stripped to a bare shell and rebuilt frame-up. In 1979, the body was restored. A Muncie M21 4-speed transmission provides the power transfer. The interior was restored to the original look in white leather, while adding a shooting star theme. Once completed, the car was shown at the Car Craft Street Machine Nationals. Side pipes were added, along with a custom screw gear mechanism to open the hood. "Outer Limits" was sold to Robert Peterson of the Peterson Museum, where it was displayed for many years. Fresh out of the museum circuit, this car has been recently inspected and serviced by renown Corvette specialist "Corvette Mike."
