1965 Chevrolet Impala 396/425 Survivor in Scottsdale, AZ

Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd, 2017 at Russo and Steele's 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information. An unrestored semi-survivor and highly documented, this ultra-rare 1965 Impala SS convertible is believed one of five known to exist and retains the original factory engine and Muncie M21 4-speed. Factory options include Ermine white exterior, red trim interior, High Performance 396/425 hp Turbo-Jet V-8, close-ratio 4-speed, tinted glass, padded dash, white top, power brakes, Comfort-Tilt steering wheel, power steering, push button AM radio, no-glare mirror, outside rearview mirror, 2-speed washer and wiper, and 4.11 Positraction rear end, plus dealer-installed door guards, floor mats, and undercoating. The car was ordered new at Gray Chevrolet in Tannersville, PA by its original owner Harry Stegner and delivered on May 19, 1965. The second owner was Harry's son John Stegner who owned the car until 2004 when he sold it to Impala collector Warren West of Olympia, WA. Mr. West owned until 2016 when the current owner bought it. It has 84,000 original miles title reads mileage exempt but is documented through a mileage log book by the original owner. It has new L78-correct BFGoodrich tires, new shocks, rear springs and some front-end bushings. It also has new original-style Gardner exhaust system the original brackets are still in place and new pillar post rubber strips. The engine compartment has been detailed and painted, and it has a new front hood emblem and Super Sport emblems. The hood was repainted to remove the incorrect hood pins. It retains a lot of the original exterior paint, but the right rear quarter-panel was repainted to repair scratches along with the rocker panel. The frame, rear end, suspension, transmission, and crossbar were cleaned up and painted. Documentation includes the original Sales Invoice, Window Sticker, Warranty booklet with Protect-O-Plate and Build Sheet, Owner History, Title Copies, as well as a notarized letter signed by the original salesman's son, who also worked at Gray Chevrolet and prepped this car for delivery in May 1965. This is an extremely well kept and maintained original example and runs and drives like a new 1965 Impala and could be driven anywhere. One of the rarest Convertibles produced by Chevrolet and bar none the best documented and original example in existence. Definitely, a once-in-a-lifetime chance to purchase and a must-have for any serious Chevrolet collector.
