It was just one of few soft-top roadsters that was offered to the American people. The Mark II began production in 1959, and was followed shortly by the most luxurious of the 3000’s, the Mark III, in 1963. The update included a new center console, toggle switches, and optional leather seating. With luxury, also came power. The Mark III produced 150 horsepower with upgraded carburetors and a new dual exhaust system. The Phase II version of the Mark III began after a chassis modification in 1964 that increased rear ground clearence. The Austin Healey 3000 ended production in 1967, despite tremendous efforst from Austin-Healey to make newer models that would be a worthy successor. The 3000 is now a very collected car by enthusiasts from all around the world. Approximately 43,000 3000’s were manufactured, however of those, only 18,000 were Mark III. The build date of this car was September 1966. Car/chassis number is H-BJ8-L/32757, engine number 29K-RU-H/7746, body number 77617. This is a numbers matching car. The car comes with a certified copy of a factory record issued by the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust. This Healey went through a complete restoration over a 3-4 year period beginning in 2008. The body was completely restored, the drive train rebuilt, interior was authentically restored with original leathers, pads and carpets. The chrome is flawless. Optional equipment included an adjustable steering wheel, overdrive transmission, heater, wire wheels, seat belts, and factory radio. Everything on the car is correct down to all the right hardware. The car runs very well, powered by the Austin 2912 cc in-line 6 cylinder with twin S.U. type HD8 carbs (series BJ8). The car has the distinctive Healey exhaust sound, overdrive snaps in and out very nicely. Tires are Metric Euro radials. Car comes equipped with tonneau cover, boot cover, original jack, supplemental tool kit and original Thor hammer. This is a must have sports car for any serious British sports car enthusiast.
