For Sale: 1955 Pontiac Safari in O'Fallon, Illinois

Vehicle Description

The Louisville showroom is proud to present this absolutely stunning 1955 Pontiac Safari Wagon for sale. The Safari wagons were Pontiac’s version of the Chevrolet Nomad. It was one of the more expensive cars sold in 1955 with a base price of $2962.00. The Safari Wagon was loaded to the gills with every option that could be found on the Pontiac Star Chief and the Pontiac Convertible. Much like the Nomads, the Safari wagons were only sold in 1955-1957. The Safari Wagon does have a bolder look with its trim, not to mention the Safari is 2 inches wider and 6 inches longer than a Nomad. The Pontiac Safari Wagon is also much rarer than the Chevy Nomad. Only 3760 ’55 Pontiac Safari Wagons were produced as compared to over 9000 ’55 Chevrolet Nomads. This gorgeous piece of automotive art has been kept all Pontiac with 2009 Pontiac 350 CID engine that has been mated to a 700R4 four speed automatic transmission. The Engine has been dressed out with chrome valve covers with the breather painted and striped to match the color scheme of the exterior. Insuring this 350 Engine get plenty of fuel is the tried and true Holley 4 barrel carburetor. A polish aluminum radiator with an electric fan has been added to keep the engine cool. To keep the driver and passengers cool, Air conditioning has been added to the mix. The fumes exit through a set of Hedman Ceramic Coated headers to a dual exhaust system that ends out the back with a set of chrome tips. Speaking of chrome, every piece of trim looks to be new and in great shape, have you priced chrome lately? The rear end is a ’55 Pontiac unit with a 3.08 gear ratio. The Pontiac Safari rides on modified Air Ride suspension with rack & pinion steering and power brakes. The Air Rides allows the driver to give the car a low and mean look when parked at the local cruises, but can be raised in an instant for a more comfortable ride when cruising the boulevard or making a highway blast. The exterior paint scheme is a combination of Sunset Pearl, Orange Pearl and White Sparkle Pearl with 12 coats of clear to protect this rolling art piece. Over 180 hours went into the paint work, which explains just how much effort has been put into this beauty. The paint and striping was actually done by well known local artist by the name of Bob Taylor. His work has won many prestigious awards ion the show car circuit. The body of this Pontiac Safari Wagon is all steel with no modifications; the exceptional paint just gives it the custom look. Completing the look of the exterior is a set of Billet Specialties polished aluminum wheels, 18’s in the front with 20’s outback wrapped in low profile radial tires. On the inside, the Safari Wagon has the original steel dash with factory gauges. An AM/FM radio with CD player is located in the glove and can be controlled with a remote. There are gauges for the air ride system, but the look has been kept clean and simple with plush tan vinyl covering the bench seats. The interior was completed Scott Henimen and is still in excellent shape. Options for this 1955 Pontiac Safari Wagon include; Air Conditioning, AM/FM Radio with CD player, Power Brakes, Power Steering, Tilt Steering Wheel, Vinyl Interior, Seat Belts, and Aluminum Alloy Wheels wrapped in Radial Tires.
