For Sale: 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 in Arlington, Texas

Vehicle Description

1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1

When it comes to muscle cars is there anything that can beat the classic Mustang? Originally released halfway through the 60s, the Mustang encompassed everything that would eventually be known as American Muscle Cars. In 1969 Ford offered multiple performance trim packages with the Mach 1 being among the most popular. In fact, the Mach 1 was so popular that Ford discontinued the GT package because sales were poor compared to the new Mach 1 package. The first generation of Mach 1s lasted until 1970 which is the year of the classic you see here. This car is an original Mach 1 car that was originally sold in Arlington, TX and has spent its entire life in the same state. The car was rebuilt 23 years ago by a GM employee living in Burleson, TX who took approximately 1 year to complete the car. When the current owner, a mechanic, purchased the car he upgraded some components and in 2001 sent the car to a Shelby restoration specialist who completed a body off custom paint job. With the repaint it was taken down to bare metal and received all new body bolts. It was then painted in a custom Dark Red with the Black Mach 1 stripes. The car has the correct style front/rear spoiler and window vents as well as all of the original chrome and stainless trim pieces which are in great shape. The car has a great stance and rides around on the original style wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.

Powering the car is the original 351 Cleveland motor that starts up smoothly and runs strong. It has the always popular shaker hood set up and the engine compartment has that clean factory look. Power by Ford valve covers are in place on each side and you will find a lot of the components painted in Ford Blue. Paired to the motor is a Top Loader 4 speed manual transmission that shifts through the gears smoothly. In the rear is the stock rear end and while the car was being repainted 3:73 gears were installed. Since being purchased by the current owner the car has received new under carriage bushings, a new fuel pump, all new shocks and a Demon 650 cfm carburetor that has just been rebuilt. Other nice features worth mentioning are the MSD ignition, air conditioning and power steering. The car runs very well and has been extremely well cared for. Since 2000 the car has been driven 3,000 miles all of which were fair weather. It is always garage kept and tuned up regularly.

The interior of the car features Black upholstery work with Red accents on the highback bucket seats. The carpeting, door panels and headliner are all in good shape with no issues. The original center console is in place which now houses an added Hurst shifter. The dash of the car is fitted with a lot of the original style components include the gauges, switches and a radio with working 8 track player. It also has the original style wooden paneling around the gauges and clock.

The car runs great, looks great, and is a great collector car. The Mach 1 has its place in Muscle Car history and will continue to be popular for many years to come.
