Wildly popular NASCAR and USAC stock-car races and speed events provided a new arena for Chevrolet to promote its products and the GM division quickly attained great success in this tough arena. Throughout the intervening years 1955 Chevrolets of all body styles were preserved restored or modified into customs street machines and drag racers. Movie use cemented their legend especially as driven by Harrison Ford in George Lucas iconic American Graffiti and by Dennis Wilson and James Taylor in the cult classic Two Lane Blacktop.
