For Sale at Auction: 1955 Chevrolet Cameo in Scottsdale, Arizona

Vehicle Description

Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd, 2017 at Russo and Steele's 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information. General Motors took the traditional pickup truck to a new level in 1955-1958 with the introduction of the new top-level Cameo Carrier. Only produced as a limited production, it beautifully narrowed the divide between light-truck and passenger-car design with a set of fiberglass rear fenders which provided a flow-through look by making the rear-fender width consistent with that of the cab and front fenders. They added wraparound windshields, polished stainless steel rear tailgate latches with retractable cables, and graceful wheel openings. Very rare and extremely attractive, the original Cameo reigns as one of the best and most significant pickup-truck designs conceived, with a strong collector following today. This example is a handsome and reliable pickup with just 2,600 miles since the engine was replaced with an modern, computerized 6.0-liter LS2 motor. It is in excellent condition and extremely quick, with many excellent modern upgrades for additional comfort, convenience, and drivability. Retaining all its original frame, body panels, and cab, except the smoothed tailgate cover, the Cameo is equipped with a high performance GM 4L70E automatic overdrive transmission, Camaro rear suspension with GM 12-bolt rear end, power front disc brakes, and Mustang II independent front suspension with power rack-and-pinion steering. The all aluminum LS2 engine is equipped with variable cylinder management and includes Corvette engine covers. It has a set of ceramic-coated Doug Thorley headers and a ceramic-coated exhaust system. The retro-look interior is simply exceptional and features red Naugahyde tuck-and-roll upholstery with heavy red wool carpeting. Great additional features include a Flaming River tilt steering column, AutoMeter electronic gauges, Vintage Air, and a satellite-ready Pioneer stereo system with DVD. Striking in its original Bombay Ivory White and Cardinal Red colors, the Cameo features very good paint and chrome, with the crowning touch provided by a new dark hardwood bed with chrome dividers. This highly collectible Cameo is reported to drive very well and marks a highly desirable - and enjoyable - find!
