Vehicle to be offered for Auction sale January 19th - 22nd, 2017 at Russo and Steele's 17th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction at the Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. Please contact us for more information. From the collection of Indy 500 champion Arie Luyendyk's auto collection, this 1966 Jaguar E-Type 'Series I' is titled under his name. The product of a recently completed, high-quality restoration with excellent workmanship performed 2012-2015, this spectacular Fixed-Head Coupe retains all matching numbers and comes with a factory heritage certificate. The goal for this 3-year restoration process was to make it a showcase Series I, which can be driven in top classic rallies including the Copperstate 1000. The frame-off restoration included removal of the engine and driveline, the original black exterior body paint was stripped to bare metal with no rust whatsoever and a durable 2-stage paint finish of Silver Grey Metallic Opalescent gunmetal grey, original used by factory was applied. The car retains its original floors. Complete new dark red leather interior installed, the instrumentation is correct, as are the rocker switches, apart from the clock, and all gauges are fully functional. Other highlights include new wire wheels, bumpers, and all chrome moldings re-chromed. A 3-carb intake system was added as well as a 5-speed transmission and Wilwood front brakes. Retrofitted air conditioning was added for comfortable driving in Arizona. All body parts fit as expected and durable Michelin tires installed. The cylinder head was rebuilt, no smoke after starting up, great power with strong oil pressure. Countless hours and lots of TLC went into this gorgeous classy collector car. The famous Enzo Ferrari once stated this model was the best-looking car he had ever seen. Full body frame-off restoration, as well as cylinder head and transmission, complete interior renewal. New wire wheels, bumpers, and moldings re-chromed. Backup invoices totaling over 95,000 excluding 2-stage paint job
