What We Know:
We purchased this beautiful Arnage R from the original owner, who spared no expense in keeping the car in factory-fresh condition. The car was purchased new from Bentley Palm Beach, FL for $218,821 (!!!) and has accumulated the majority of it’s 71,250 miles shuttling it’s owners back and forth between their homes in FL and IL. We have receipts in-hand totaling over $60,000 in maintenance – including a 2014 service which included the replacement of the timing cover, gaskets, seals, O rings, and coolant pipe, to the tune of $9200. Other noteworthy maintenance items include the replacement of the ignition coils, navigation screen motor, exhaust gas temperature sensors, rear suspension gas springs, radiator cooling fan coupling, brake pads/rotors/sensors, thermostat, spark plug wires, fuel pipe, breather hoses, fuel cap, shutoff valve, reservoir cap, and turn signal/wiper switch assembly. The steering wheel was resurfaced in 2012, and a Bentley K-40 radar detector installed in front and rear with defuser.
This car was optioned out well, equipped with optional equipment including veneered burr oak panels on all four doors, veneered tables on the rear of the front seats, a sunroof, 18” chrome 6-spoke wheels, and a solid wood gear lever.
The Exterior:
Arctica paint shines brilliantly, as does all exterior chrome. This car is free of the lower front end rock chips one would expect from a 71,250 highway-heavy mile vehicle as the front air dam spoiler and undertray panel were replaced in May 2015 after the owner rubbed a parking curb. There are a couple very minor chips surrounding the right headlight. This car shows extremely well, and has clearly been taken care of meticulously.
The previous owner was so fond of this car that they had their initials put on the front doors in gold text, matching the pinstripe, just above the door handle. We removed the initials on the driver side with no fuss, though they still remain on the passenger door. The passenger side initials put up a bit of a fight, so we opted to leave them, so to not risk damaging the paint.
The Interior:
This car is the pinnacle of 2003 luxury. Sitting in the driver seat for the first time is a bit of a sensory overload – between the smell of the Cotswold leather interior and the beautifully finished veneered burr oak on the dash and door panels, this Arnage R absolutely still feels like a $200,000 car. The interior only has a couple very minor imperfections – there is slight wear on the front of the center console, in addition to slight wear on the top of the steering wheel, and a hairline crack in the veneer just to the right of the gear lever, only visible upon close inspection. Under the Hood / Under the Car:
The Bentley Arnage R is a fairly large vehicle, weighing in at 5700lbs and measuring nearly 18ft in length. However, thanks to it’s 6.75 liter twin-turbocharged V8 (400hp, 616lb-ft), this ultra-luxury sedan will sprint to 60mph in just 5.8 seconds. Speed is effortless, power delivery is smooth and linear, and the cabin remains largely silent even under hard acceleration. This car is extremely refined while still providing the performance that a car wearing an “R” badge should. Underbody is in great condition, with no rust or damage. It’s clear that this car has spent the majority of it’s life in a Florida garage.
The Final Assessment:
If you are in the market for a well-preserved ultra-luxury car that will make you feel like royalty, this is it.
