Vehicle Description

1962 TRIUMPH TR4 'SURREY TOP' --Triumph Black with Red Leather interior, Black carpeting and Black convertible top, 2,138cc OHV Inline 4-Cylinder Engine, 4-Speed Manual Transmission, Original color combination, Match numbers, British Motor Heritage Trust Certificate. Factory equipment included: Heater, Windscreen Washer, Black Tonneau Cover, Sun Visors, New Type Instruments. This TR4 was completed on June 14, 1962, and originally painted Black with Red leather interior, as confirmed by the accompanying British Heritage Trust Certificate. This TR4 is one of the first 500 ever built! Originally shipped from Gladstone Dock, Liverpool, UK upon the Vessel ‘American Scientist’ the TR4 was later delivered to the Standard Triumph Motor Company of Boston, Massachusetts. Meticulously restored in the mid 1990’s over the course of a number of years by Precision Autocraft, MA. Presented today, it is still in superb condition today, a testament to the quality of its restoration. The seats were upholstered in high quality leather trimmed in the original color and a period Nardi wood-rim steering wheel fitted. The classic styling was further enhanced with a set of chrome wire wheels (a period factory option) and the engine bay beautifully detailed to concours condition. Upon completion, this Triumph embarked on a successful concours career wining class or best in show in almost all its entry’s before being retired in 1997. In 1994, this particular Triumph was featured in the cover of “The Vintage Triumph” magazine having just been awarded 1st Place at the 1994 Vintage Triumph Register National Concours show. Subsequently, the TR4 passed hands and joined the Oldenburg collection where it remained garaged and carefully maintained until selling more recently to its current collector owner and friend of Autosport Designs. In his collection, this Triumph has been enjoyed on the Copperstate 1000 in 2014, the winding Nebraska roads and used for other small tours and shows and is only being sold to make room for another vintage automobile. Today, this Triumph drives superbly and shows only the slightest signs of patina. This TR4 is something that must be seen and driven to be believed. Recently serviced and always kept in superb and condition throughout, the TR4 ‘Surrey Top’ is ready for immediate use on the road and equally as comfortable on the concours lawn.
