Vehicle Description

One owner Survivor with 49 Pages of Documentation.
Letter from Hagerty Insurance on value of car.

This 1966 GTO convertible was ordered new on November 18, 1965 by the original owner’s husband as a Christmas present to his wife who is now 93 years old as verified by a letter to the dealer Heineman-Hopkins Pontiac Company Oaklyn, NJ as the letter states that he would like delivery prior to Christmas (Delivered on Dec. 22, 1965). It is very apparent that the wife loved this GTO very much as is apparent by the way she took loving care of the car. The car is a very nice numbers matching survivor with one repaint and one top that looks very good. She kept all letters, order forms, invoices, recipes and insurance and registration forms that show a very complete paper trail for the car. Listed are the documents and condition of the GTO.

Dear Mr. Left:

Thank you for contacting Hagerty. Our concierge team took a look at the information provided and had the following response.

This car is incredibly cool and in excellent condition considering the survivor status. Visually, this car would fall somewhere in our #3 range. That’s appropriate for a survivor that has been kept exceptionally well. That being said, because of the fact it hasn’t been restored and that there is an exceptional amount of documentation, I would value this car closer to our #2 value than where the actual condition suggests. The client’s suggested value of somewhere between $60,000 and $70,000, I believe to be a fair assessment. If I was going to recommend an insured value, I would split the difference at $65,000 and call it good. $70,000 is too close to our #2 value and I believe that it would take an auction and the right people in the room to make that number happen. $65,000 would be doable for a private, peer to peer sale.

If you have further questions or if we may be of additional assistance, please feel free to call our office at (800)922-4050 and any one of our friendly agents will be happy to help you. We are open Monday - Friday 8:00am - 8pm, Saturday 8:30am - 4:30pm and Sunday 12pm - 4pm (Eastern).

Sincerely,

Alesha
