MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present another unique
Italian Job, a 1973 Lancia Fulvia Rallye Coup 1.3 S. This is a
true classic European collector's find! The former owner drove the
car since 2000. Finished in stunning silver metallic, the paint job
shows extremely well with only minor imperfections visible upon
close inspection. Virtually unknown in the U.S., the Italian brand
Lancia has been building cars for over 100 years. Often on the
engineering vanguard, the brand is credited with a number of
automotive firsts. This example is a Coup 1.3 S(Tipo 818.630/631)
Series II, which brought a face-lifted body and new five-speed
manual gearbox with a 1298cc (818.303) V-4 engine with
dual-carburetors producing 90horsepower at 6000rpm. Larger
Girling calipers and pads with four-wheel disc brakes replaced the
Dunlop system fitted to Series I cars. With its low beltline and
generous greenhouse, the Lancia Fulvia will delight even the most
discerning Italian car collector or enthusiast. The windshield and
other vehicle glass sections are clear, intact and in overall good
shape. All exterior lights are present, intact and clear. The front
bumper shows some minor blemishes but overall, the bumpers are in
good shape, as are the rest of the metal trim pieces. The car's
body panels are straight. The engine bay and battery are clean. The
trunk has more cargo volume than one might expect, thanks to the
car's front-drive layout. Car rolls on Michelin X1 175/65R14 tires
with factory steel eight-slot wheels. Inside, the correct dark blue
velour seats all look excellent, with no major signs of wear
visible. The seats were reupholstered by the same manufacturer
Lancia used in the 1970s and these seats came in cloth only on the
Rallye versions. The carpet is intact, the headliner is in very
good shape, as is the instrument panel with its woodgrain insert.
The interior and exterior mirrors are each in one piece and the
door panels, wood-rimmed steering wheel and shifter are all in good
shape. This car is a radio delete model. TheLancia Fulvia(Tipo
818) was anItaliancarintroduced at theGeneva Motor Showin
1963and produced until 1976. Fulvias are notable for their role in
motorsport history, including winning theInternational Rally
Championshipin 1972.After testing it in 1967,Road & Tracksummed
up the Fulvia as "a precision motorcar, an engineering tour de
force." It is named after Via Fulvia, the Roman roadleading from
Tortona to Torino. When leaving the factory, all but a few of the
Coups originally fittedPirelli Cinturato165HR14 tires. The
Coups were the last Fulvia model to be discontinued, ceasing
production in 1977. The Fulvia Berlina replaced theLancia
Appia, with which it shared almost no components. The Appia
usedrear-wheel drive, while the Fulvia moved tofront-wheel
drivelike the Flavia. The general engineering design of the Fulvia
was identical to that of the Flavia with the major exception of the
engine; the Flavia had a four-cylinder horizontally opposed engine
while the Fulvia had a 'narrow angle' vee configuration as featured
on most production Lancias since theLambda. The Fulvia used a
longitudinal engine mounted in front of itstransaxle.
Anindependent suspensionin front usedwishbonesand a singleleaf
spring, while abeam axlewith apanhard rodand leaf springs was
used in back. Competition to this Lancia in 1973 included Alfa
Romeo's GT 1300 Junior, BMW's 1600 Touring, Ford's Capri 1600 GT,
MG's MBG GT and Opel's Manta. CLICK HERE TO VIEW OUR YOUTUBE VIDEO
