STK 2140 1962 VW Standard This rare 3-owner 1962 Volkswagen Beetle is a fine example of one of the most popular cars of all time. The partial restoration began with a rust-free, very straight vehicle and about 75% of the completed car is still original. The undercarriage and running boards are rock-solid and the exterior required only a partial repaint of Pearl White. The interior has been redone in Brick Red/Cream vinyl and the headliner appears to be original. There is no air conditioning, no power seats and no power locks - but there is a great sunroof !! Roll down the windows, throw your stuff in the period-correct roof rack and go have some fun! Our Beetle is powered by a healthy 1200cc flat four that cranks out 40hp. We have been told that the engine has never needed a total rebuild, but has received a major service including a new clutch/pressure plate, carburetor, fuel pump and distributor. Its stock exhaust system is solid with a new heat exchanger. The 4-speed manual transmission shifts smoothly and the 4-wheel drum brakes perform well. Suspension is all stock and rims are 15 Volkswagen road wheels with nice factory hubcaps and trim rings. This is a sweet Bug and someone is going to have a lot of fun with it.
