However, the Shelby Cobra had too much drag to achieve the top speeds on the Mulsanne Straight needed to beat Ferrari in the GT Class. Enter the Daytona Coupe. With its aerodynamic Fastback shape and new top speed, it not only won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but also went on to make Shelby the first American constructor to win the FIA World Sportscar Championship in 1965. This Factory Five replica beautifully pays homage to that legacy. The flowing silhouette of this racer is draped in beautiful silver with orange racing stripes, sitting atop 18” US Mags wheels wrapped in brand new tires. The tube frame sports an independent front suspension and 3 link rear featuring an 8.8 inch limited slip with 3.73 gears. Bringing everything to a halt are disc brakes on all 4 wheels. Motivating this 2,500lb fiberglass rocket is a balanced and blueprinted 351 Windsor V8 rated at 440 HP with Edelbrock intake, aluminum heads, Edelbrock thunder series 650 cfm carburetor, and MSD ignition. Transferring the power to the wheels is a Tremec 5 speed manual transmission. Strap into the cockpit using the Simpson 5 point harness, and you will be greeted by a 14” wood steering wheel, Kirkey Racing seats, and a full rollcage.
