The AMX name originates from the &quot;American Motors eXperimental&quot; code used on a concept vehicle and then on two prototypes shown on the company's &quot;Project IV&quot; automobile show tour in 1966.9 #fn9 One was a fiberglass two-seat &quot;AMX&quot;, and the other was a four-seat &quot;AMX II&quot;. Both of these radically styled offerings reflected the company's strategy to shed its &quot;economy car&quot; image and appeal to a more youthful, performance-oriented market.<br /><br /> The AMX was lauded for its engineering advances in several areas. The 390 engine was still light weight with minimal growth to the dimensions. The dash was one-piece molded for safety and the windshield was developed to crumble by Corning leading to setting industry standards.<br /><br /> The '69 AMX is all muscle car era excellence in Black with tan leather interior, maintained to original specs.
