From 1990 to 1995 GM/Chevrolet produced the end result of one of the most radical projects ever done by the very conservative company. The LT5 ZR1 32V DOHC "King of the Hill" Corvette. The total number of cars from 1990-1995 were only 6,939 for all the years combined, with just 3,049 for 1990, making all of them quite a rare piece of machinery. The original MSRP sticker on these cars were right about $70k. With all this being said.... If you are a car enthusiast and have a taste for performance, packaged with a great looking and driving car that is one of the few late model collectable cars - This is the car to have! The original ZR-1 Corvette was a performance icon of the '90s, with the high-tech muscle to back up its supercar reputation. Despite its low build volume - a total of 6,939 ZR-1s were produced between 1990 and 1995 - this is the car that helped re-establish the Corvette as a legitimate world-class performance car. It's a distinction the Vette hasn't relinquished since. A quarter-century after the ZR-1's release, the car still retains a loyal following among Corvette collectors, and serves as a milestone performance model in Corvette's long history. What is not seen on a ZR1 is what is under the hood. The LT5 is an all aluminum 349CID/5.7 Liter 32 Valve piece of engineering that has yet to be matched anywhere on earth. The motors are right at 400HP with a near 7000RPM red line, but have more reliability and endurance over any high performance engine ever produced in this country to date. The ZR1 is known for its top speed endurance record, where the car went at speeds over 175MPH, nonstop, for 24 hours. There are NO American cars that can do this except the ZR1 to date! The ZR1 truly is a race car on the street and has the endurance to go from coast to coast as fast as possible without breaking, if there were no speed limits. The LT5 was so radical, that GM could not produce it themselves. It was partially designed by Lotus, but was actually hand built by the Mercury Marine Company in Stillwater Oklahoma... A totally off the wall move by GM, never again done. Though the motor has not been produced again due to its unheard of actual cost to GM, the research behind it was used in other revolutionary engines, such as the Northstar Cadillac Engine. This 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is in outstanding original condition and it is easily one of the nicest examples on the open market today. Since collectors have actively been snatching up these hard to find models in recent years, do not be surprised if this one does not remain available for long. For more information on this outstanding 1990 Chevrolet Corvette ZR-1, or any of our other 15+ Corvettes always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our Bellevue, WA showrooms and peruse the West Coast's finest assortment of luxury, exotic, special interest and collectible cars - We Always Have 200+ on Site at our 5-acre Park Place Center.
