“Sweet, Smooth, and Sassy” was how Chevrolet described its 1957 models. Remarkably, one of the most sought-after cars of the post-war era wasn’t the industry best-seller when new. With few exceptions, Chevrolet outsold its rival in the thirty years after Ford stopped producing the Model T. But pushing a third-year restyle against dramatically new Fords and Plymouths caused Chevy to slip to number two in sales for 1957.
The lines of the 1957 Chevrolet are iconic and ageless. This Chevrolet 210 has been tastefully upgraded with subtle modifications. The exterior is painted in Tropical Turquoise with accenting chrome bumpers and five-spoke chrome wheels. The car sports original 210 model trim that has been carefully polished to an exquisite shine. Under the hood of this Chevy is a nicely detailed 396-cid V-8 engine with chrome valve covers, polished air cleaner and dual exhaust. Installed is a Doug Nash 4+3 automatic transmission and a 4.56:1 posi-traction rear end. To accommodate the larger engine the chassis was carefully upgraded and the springs in the rear were moved to accommodate the ten inch tires. The interior is tidy in its presentation. The upholstery is completed with Tropical Turquoise and black; giving it a true taste from the 50s. The steering wheel and dashboard are painted in the same Aqua Blue color. Adorning the dash are modern digital gauges, an in-dash radio and an electric clock.
