For Sale: 1979 Cadillac Seville in Palm Springs, California

Vehicle Description

UPDATE: March 22, 2017 - Thank you for those who have contacted me about this unique vehicle. I have contacted a transport company and can obtain quotes for out of the area potential buyers.

UPDATE: June 26, 2017 - For interested California buyers, sorry to say getting the car in condition to pass smog may not be feasible (due to the engine replacement). Please contact me if interested to discuss further.

- Family Owned (Current owner is the original owner’s son). 32,430 Miles. This car was completed by the Grandeur Motor Car Company. Grandeur Motor Car Company was officially sanctioned by Cadillac to modify production model Cadillac Sevilles and create these unique vehicles. They would remove the back seat and extend the front hood keeping the frame intact but creating a two-door version with unique eye catching features. Very limited productions, few of these vehicles were produced for several years (I have not been able to ascertain the exact production numbers).

This car came with a 5.7 L V8 engine (replaced, see below), power windows and locks, cruise control, the original brown leather interior, and it's original am/fm cassette radio. The original color of this vehicle was a two tone (Beige over Brown) and has been repainted white with pin striping; the original leather Landau top was removed and made a full hard top at the time the vehicle was repainted. It has true spoke rims on the vehicle and an extra set of 4 spoke rims and tires. All is fully functional and is in good/very good condition. This car is eye catching and gorgeous!

Power train modifications: Dad had consistent troubles with the fuel injected 5.7 L V8, so he replaced it with a 1978 Oldsmobile 455 (carburetor) in 1992. This was part of an overall re-conditioning. This Oldsmobile 455 engine was purchased from the original owner (who bought it for his boat) and has approximately 2000 miles on it. At the same time, the transmission was replaced with a Chevrolet Turbo 400 Transmission, the car was painted it's current color (white). He also had the catalytic converter and smog pump removed, therefore this car can not be smog certified in California as is. This vehicle has been stored under cover in a warehouse since 2008 and was driven sparingly before being warehoused (explaining the low mileage).

The car has been thoroughly checked out in September 2016; all fluids have been replaced; new battery installed (car was connected to a trickle charger while stored); carburetor rebuilt and tested; leaks in the power train were identified and repaired (new seals); worn belts replaced, etc. The tires on the vehicle are brand new (they were new when the car was placed into storage). The car has been detailed and underwent a safety check. These recent maintenance documents are available upon request. The car is in Palm Springs, CA. Out of area buyers will need to arrange pickup/delivery, I can assist and obtian transport qoutes. This is an amazing and rare vehicle, a great opportunity for a specific buyer. Asking $15,500. All reasonable offers will be considered. Please contact me if you have any questions or to make an appointment to see this vehicle.
