This car's meticulous restoration was conducted by noted Porsche specialist Nate Cantwell of Connecticut between 1990-1992. He sought out this highly optioned car with factory air conditioning and electric sunroof from an owner in Pennsylvania. The goal from the outset was to build a car capable of winning the prestigious Manhattan award at the PCA Parade. There would be no half measures.
Cantwell put everything he knew into the car, having won three Manhattan awards during his time at Automobile Associates. He retained all of the cars original options with the only addition being the sport seats. The result was a car that won its class and division in the next two Porsche Parades, and scored a 299.6 out of 300.
After its initial show career the 911S passed through the hands of a couple of collectors in the late 90s, including Bruce Canepa.
In the possession of Chris O'Donnell of California the car would return to the show circuit at the 2002 PCA Porsche Parade. The 911S would sweep the awards with a class win, division award, and the Concours Restoration Grand Trophy. It would be one of only two cars to be awarded the Gmund Level of Achievement for cars with 298 points & above.
The car's multiple show wins attracted the attention of the car's last owner who purchased it a few years ago. Kept strictly as a show car, the 911S is still in its concours winning condition assisted by the expertise of John Willhoit of Willhoit Auto Restoration and Scott Hendry of Scott's Independent. Most recently the interior was redone in black leather by Autos International.
The current mileage of 87,299 is original to the car, and it has covered only about 3000 miles in the past 25 years. Even to the trained eye you would be hard pressed to tell the age of the restoration. Standing in front of this masterpiece you would swear the work was only completed yesterday.
Fully serviced and concours detailed this well known 911S is ready to continue its domination of the show lawn, or if you choose, for a long overdue return to the road.
