For sale is a 1964 Pontiac GTO Hardtop Coupe located in our Indianapolis Showroom. 1964 was the first year for the Pontiac GTO and what a first year it was! The GTO was an option package that could be ordered on the LeMans model that included a 389 CID V8, stiffer suspension, and a Hurst 3-speed manual transmission. A few of the popular options included a Muncie 4-Speed and a Tri-power setup which was a modest 23 horsepower increase over the single 4 barrel carburetor, but oh what a look! This outstanding '64 has gone through a ground up, body off restoration with only 759 miles since completion. Originally this GTO was painted in Yorktown Blue with dark blue interior, with a 3-speed manual on the floor, with a single 4 barrel carburetor feeding fuel to the 389. As with a lot of muscle cars from the sixties, the original engine is long gone. Now in its place is a rebuilt, period correct 389 CID V8, backed by a Muncie 4-speed with a Hurst shifter on the floor, running to a 12 bolt limited slip rear end with 3.90 gears. The car is now painted in a beautiful Gulfstream Aqua which was a factory GTO color in 1964. The interior was also totally gone through during the extensive restoration done in Aqua to match the exterior with new carpeting, seat covers from Legendary, and a new headliner. This GTO also received a new exhaust system that includes long tube headers feeding into a dual 3" Flowmaster exhaust system that sound great. The steering, brake, and suspension components were also all gone through which makes for an enjoyable ride. All of the hard work really paid off as this little GTO sure looks ready for some trophies. The body work and paint for this '64 are outstanding! Looking at the photos you will begin to see how much work actually went into the detailed restoration. No expense was spared during the restoration and the list of work goes on along with a stack of receipts to back it up. Another little bonus is the PHS documentation that comes with the sale proving this car to be a real deal GTO.
